Enter our "Most Boring ENewsletter" contest

Why do nonprofits write such boring subject lines? We've decided to hold a contest. Go through your inbox and nominate the most boring email subject lines used by nonprofits. (Self-nominations are allowed, as are anonymous ones.)

Here's our beginning list:

Project Hope: "Project Hope Today" (like I didnt' know it was today?)
American Red Cross: "One Minute Update" (so much html, it should be called "one minute to load")
Universal Giving (formerly GivingGlobal): "Newsletter" (this one is going to be hard to beat)

Ok, time to send in your nominations.

Meet the bloggers at N-TEN in Seattle

Headed to N-TEN next week? Come meet us for a cup of coffee at the original Starbucks in Seattle. All nonprofit webmasters and online fundraisers are invited to join us for a no-sales pitch conversation. Come vent at us (over a venti) about our pro-Goodmail position. Complain about your website. Ask a question. Mostly, relax. We're meeting Wednesday from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm, leaving from the entrance to the Science Fair at the Westin. RSVP

"Lobbying Reform" is a danger to nonprofit free speech

Mark Fitzgibbons of American Target Advertising, one of leaders of the Free Speech Coalition, has written an article on Grassroots Lobbying for DM News. He has clearly spelled out why everyone in the direct mail industry should be concerned with the bills in Congress which - for the first time - would impose reporting burdens for those who engage in grass roots lobbying. The lobbying reform bills would actually protect corruption by regulating those in the grassroots who try to keep Congress honest. Please read this article and take such "grass roots" action as you deem appropriate.
